# Dev Log: Dashboard UI Consultation & Access Control Documentation

**Date:** January 4, 2026
**Task:** Dashboard Advice, RBAC Documentation Update, and Implementation Planning
**Status:** Success

## 1. Task Overview
The primary objective was to provide expert advice on a proposed redesign of the "Deals Dashboard" and "Deal Details Overlay" to reduce information overload. The user specifically requested guidance based on the "Agent Brain" strategies (supply/demand dynamics).

A secondary but critical requirement was to update the project documentation to accurately reflect the application's "Role-Based Access Control" (RBAC), explicitly distinguishing between features available to standard Users (Dashboard, Settings) and Admins (Strategies, Brain, Guided Learning).

## 2. Actions Taken

### A. UI/UX Consultation
Analyzed the user's proposed designs and "Agent Brain" strategies to recommend a high-velocity, high-density layout:
* **Header Strategy:** Recommended grouping Supply/Demand metrics (Rank, Drops, Offers, Season) under a **"Supply & Demand"** header to align with the core arbitrage philosophy.
*   **Column Optimization:**
    * Endorsed **"3.4M"** short-format for Sales Rank to save space.
    * Advocated for **"Offers ↘"** (Trend Arrows) to highlight competition dynamics.
    * Proposed a **"Buy >"** button within the grid to replace the generic "Actions" column, saving click depth.
    * Suggested **"Estimate"** as a clearer label for "Profit Confidence".
    * Recommended using a **Warning Icon (⚠️)** for "Amazon Listed" status to support "Management by Exception."

### B. Documentation Updates
Updated the core documentation suite to codify the security model:
* **`README.md`:** Added a "User Roles & Access Control" section defining the User vs. Admin split.
*   **`Documents_Dev_Logs/Feature_Deals_Dashboard.md`:** Updated header to `(User & Admin Access)`.
*   **`Documents_Dev_Logs/Feature_Guided_Learning_Strategies_Brain.md`:** Updated header to `(Admin Only)`.

### C. Implementation Planning
Created a detailed technical specification for the next developer to ensure no context is lost:
*   **Artifact:** `Documents_Dev_Logs/Task_Plan_Dashboard_UI_Update.md`
* **Content:** Detailed the exact column ordering, CSS class requirements (e.g., `.binding-cell`), formatting rules (merging Trend + Time into "Ago"), and backend requirements (calculating 30-day drops).

## 3. Challenges & Resolutions

**Challenge: Git Staging State**
* **Issue:** During the final commit preparation, the documentation updates (modified in a previous step) needed to be bundled with the newly created Task Plan file. The initial `git status` check showed them as unstaged or potential conflict points due to the multi-turn nature of the task.
* **Resolution:** Performed a `git reset --soft` to unstage previous intermediate states and then executed a clean `git add` for all four files (`README.md`, the two Feature docs, and the new Task Plan). This ensured a single, atomic commit containing the full scope of work.

## 4. Outcome
The task was successful. The documentation now accurately reflects the production security environment, and a comprehensive blueprint (`Task_Plan_Dashboard_UI_Update.md`) is in place to guide the immediate implementation of the new Dashboard UI without ambiguity.
