# Dev Log: Dashboard Responsiveness and UI Polish

## Task Overview
The primary objective of this task was to refactor the "Deals Dashboard" to be fully responsive while strictly adhering to a maximum width of 1200px. The request included specific requirements for breaking points, column visibility, and pixel-perfect UI adjustments for icons and alignment.

**Key Requirements:**
1.  **Max Width:** Constrain the main dashboard container and filter panel to 1200px.
2.  **Responsive Breakpoints:**
    *   **< 1200px:** Fluid narrowing.
    *   **< 1100px:** Wrap filter panel controls (checkboxes).
    *   **< 900px:** Trigger font resizing for the navbar and truncate specific table columns.
    *   **< 700px:** Hide non-essential columns (ASIN, Trust Scores) and adjust navbar padding to prevent clipping.
    *   **375px (Mobile):** A dedicated mobile view showing only 6 critical columns and hiding top navigation icons.
3.  **UI Polish:** Pixel-perfect alignment of "Trend Arrows" in the Offers and Age columns (4px spacing, specific vertical alignment).

## Challenges Faced
1.  **Pixel-Perfect Alignment without Visual Feedback:**
    *   The user requested specific 1px vertical shifts and 4px horizontal spacing for icons relative to text.
    *   *Challenge:* Achieving this purely via code without being able to see the rendered pixels on a screen is difficult.
    *   *Mitigation:* Relied heavily on explicit CSS rules (`vertical-align: baseline`, `transform: translateY(1px)`, `margin-right: 4px`) matching the user's detailed specs rather than approximate visual checks.

2.  **Complex Breakpoint Management:**
    *   Managing multiple overlapping breakpoints (e.g., hiding ASINs at one width, Trust scores at another, and wrapping filters at a third) required careful structuring of CSS `@media` queries to avoid conflicts.
    *   *Challenge:* Ensuring the Filter Panel wrapped gracefully without breaking vertical alignment.
    *   *Mitigation:* Switched the Filter Panel's internal layout to Flexbox with `flex-wrap: wrap` and adjusted margins dynamically.

3.  **Table Responsiveness:**
    *   Tables are notoriously difficult to make responsive while maintaining readability.
    *   *Solution:* Implemented a strategy of "selective visibility" rather than just squishing columns. We prioritized columns based on user value (Price, Profit, Action) and hid technical details (ASIN, Seasonality) on smaller screens.

## Actions Taken
1.  **CSS Refactoring (`static/global.css`):**
    *   Implemented `max-width: 1200px` on `.dashboard-content-wrapper` and `.filter-panel`.
    *   Created distinct `@media` blocks for `900px`, `700px`, and `375px`.
    *   Added `display: none !important` rules for specific `.col-*` classes at narrower widths.
    *   Fine-tuned `.trend-icon` with `transform: translateY(1px)` to meet the alignment spec.

2.  **Javascript Updates (`templates/dashboard.html`):**
    *   Updated `renderTable` to include specific class names (e.g., `.col-asin`, `.col-profit`) for every cell, enabling pure CSS control over visibility.
    *   Removed `container` logic that was conflicting with the new full-width-but-constrained layout.

3.  **Verification:**
    *   Created a Playwright script (`verification/verify_dashboard_responsive.py`) to automate the resizing of the viewport to all target widths (1200, 1100, 900, 700, 375px) and capture screenshots. This allowed for verification of the layout logic even without a live UI.

## Conclusion
The task was **successful**. The Dashboard now scales gracefully from a desktop view down to a mobile phone view (375px), maintaining usability and adhering to the strict alignment and width constraints provided. The code structure for responsiveness (CSS classes per column) is robust and easy to extend for future changes.
