# Stalled Deals Investigation Report

**Date:** 2026-01-30
**Status:** DIAGNOSED
**Severity:** CRITICAL

## 1. Executive Summary
The "dwindling deals" issue is caused by a **stale Celery worker process** running outdated code.
- The worker is executing code where `sortType` is `0` (Sales Rank), whereas the codebase on disk correctly specifies `sortType: 4` (Last Update).
- This mismatch causes the "Delta Sync" logic to fail immediately because it relies on timestamps that are inconsistent with Sales Rank sorting.
- Additionally, the Celery processes appear to have crashed or stalled, as they are currently not running.

## 2. Diagnostic Findings

### A. Code Version Mismatch
- **Disk Code:** `simple_task.py` correctly contains `SORT_TYPE_LAST_UPDATE = 4`.
- **Running Code (Logs):** The logs show repeated usage of `Sort: 0`. This confirms the running worker loaded an old version of the code and was never restarted to pick up the fix.

### B. Process Status
- `Celery WORKER`: **NOT RUNNING**
- `Celery BEAT`: **NOT RUNNING**
- **Impact:** No new deals are being fetched. The system is completely stalled.

### C. Data Health
- **Freshness:** No deals have been ingested in the last hour (`< 1h: 0`).
- **Backlog:** 298 deals are older than 72 hours, indicating the "Janitor" task (which runs via Celery Beat) is also not running.

### D. Locks
- Redis locks were checked and cleared using `Diagnostics/fix_stalled_system.py`.

## 3. Recommended Fix Actions

To resolve this issue, you must fully restart the application services to load the correct code and resume processing.

**Execute the following commands in your terminal:**

```bash
# 1. Forcefully kill all stuck processes and clear Redis state
sudo ./kill_everything_force.sh
# 2. Start the services (Worker, Beat, Redis)
sudo ./start_celery.sh
# 3. Verify the fix (Wait 2 minutes, then run):
python3 Diagnostics/comprehensive_health_check.py
```

### Verification Criteria
After restarting, the Health Check should show:
- `Celery WORKER` and `Celery BEAT`: **RUNNING**
- `Log Analysis`: Should show new entries with `Sort: 4`.
- `Deal Freshness`: The `< 1h` count should start increasing.
